Paediatric First Aid
This two-day Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills related to children, providing you with the skills to ensure a safe environment for children and infants.

The qualification is Ofqual accredited and valid for three years.
​
Paediatric First Aid is 12 hours and can be delivered over two consecutive days or can be split into smaller sessions and delivered over a 7 week period from the start of the course.

Prerequisites
Candidates must be a minimum of 16-years-old at the time of taking the assessment. No prior first aid knowledge is required.

Course Content
A range of subjects are covered, including:

Understanding the role of the paediatric first aider

How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock

How to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively

How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction

How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is wounded and bleeding

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture and a dislocation

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a head, a neck and a back injury

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold

How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned

Assessment
The course comprises practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical assessment on CPR and first aid. All assessment criteria in the units must be achieved.
